Retained Organ's Commission As you may know, the government has set up the Retained Organ's Commission (ROC) to oversee the giving of information and return of organs to relatives by hospitals throughout the Country. A moratorium on the release of information and organs was imposed on all hospitals until they could satisfy the commission that any information they gave out was as accurate as possible so that there would be no repeat of the situation where families had to have two, three & four burials. A list of those
hospitals that had been given the go ahead for the release of information
is included on this website (click
for list). Alder Hey has now been given the green light
to commence returning retained organs to parents and families. The commission
will be having their board meeting in Liverpool on Wednesday the 12th September
at Goodison Park (Everton FC). This meeting is open to the public
and although you will not be able to contribute to the discussions,
you will be able to make comments during a special section of the
meeting. However, we have been able to arrange a special meeting the evening before (Tuesday the 11th September at 7.00 pm in the 'Suites Hotel Knowsley'. This is a public meeting set up specifically for people involved in organ retention to be able to meet the commission members and air their views and concerns. I
urge you to attend this meeting if you possibly can.
