Coroners Review Team As a result of the recommendations made in the Redfern Report, a team, as previously reported, has been appointed by the Home Office to carry out a fundamental review of the coroner system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Chair is
Mr. Tom Luce. Mr Luce and the review team secretary Mr Mike Gallagher
paid a visit to PITY II on 17th October, to listen to our views
and suggestions. The group put many constructive points and suggestions
about changes that we would like to see forward. A preliminary list
will be compiled and forwarded to them in due course. Mr Luce will
be recommending that PITY II be part of the reference groups
that will be set up to assist in the review and they intend to make
further visits in the future. To reiterate what was stated in our previous report (see September 2001), the review team would welcome any input from individuals with views and experiences that they would like to share with them. If you would like to send a summary of your experiences of the coroner system and any changes that you would like to see, please do so. It would be helpful if you would also let PITY II have a copy of any correspondence you may have for our file. The
name and address once again is:
