Colin
& Wendy Parry
Denise &
Bill Green received a letter of support from Colin & Wendy Parry
whose twelve year old son Timothy, you will remember, was killed in
the terrorist bombing in Warrington in 1993. We reproduce the whole
of the letter below.
We
wish to make the following statement in support of the campaign
to stop the unauthorised use of children's bodies after their death
and in support of the campaign to establish a memorial to their
lives.
'The
whole business of taking body parts from dead children without the
authority of the parents is astonishing as it is shocking in its
arrogance and thoughtlessness. Clearly, those responsible for doing
so have not lost a child themselves otherwise they could surely
not behave in such a heartless way.
As
someone who has lost a child, I must say that we would have given
permission for parts of Tim to be retained for the benefit of another
person
but only if we had been asked beforehand. The thought
however, that in the immediate moments following his death, someone
could be 'plundering' his body, fills us with both horror and anger.
We
wish you success in your campaign to mark your children's lives
and also to remind society that, left unaccountable, even the noblest
of professions can behave in the most inhumane of ways'.
Signed
Colin & Wendy
Many thanks to
Colin and Wendy for their welcome words of support.
