Consumers in NHS Research/PITY II Workshop

The first planning meeting for an 'Expert Workshop' took place on Thursday 16th January 2003 in Liverpool. In attendance were representatives from the Consumers in NHS Research Support Unit, the Department of Health and the PITY II Executive.

The workshop will be in Liverpool and will be hosted jointly by PITY II and the Consumers in NHS Research. It will be open to representatives of Parent Support Groups around the country who will be invited to participate.

The format is still under discussion but it is envisaged that it will be a one day workshop with experts, from a number of relevant professional bodies, PITY II and possibly other groups.

A date has yet to be decided but either June or September has been suggested depending on the availability of the participants. A lot of planning will be required and we will keep you informed of progress.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
