Below is a self-explanatory
letter from parent, Denise Green. The letter . If you would like to
make a donation to Denise's memorial gate fund email her at
denisebgreen@yahoo.co.uk
Dear
families and friends from Pity II,
Hope
you all had a peaceful Christmas, and we wish you a very Happy New
Year!
We
would like to take the opportunity to thank the committee and all
the people involved for the hard work in making things happen. We
truly appreciate your commitment and dedication in helping change
the law for a better future.
As
a family, we feel hopeful and look forward to the day when the promised
amendment of the law is finally in place. Then we can say with assurance,
'Never Again'.
We
believe lessons must be learnt from what has happened, and as most
of you know I have been in the process of designing a memorial 'Gate
of Justice' that will go on exhibition next May 2003 at the
Bolton Art Gallery.
The
memorial gate will be free standing and the size will be 8 feet
tall by 6 feet wide each gate. One gate will remain closed representing
the past and present, while the other gate will be opened so that
people may walk through. This represents the promise of the future.
Images
of the scales of justice will be placed on both gates, along with
text. The closed gate's scales will be tilted, having had no balance,
representing the law was not sufficient. While the scales on the
future gate are seen as balanced, with the promise 'Never Again'
The
gate design is now ready and waiting to be submitted to the blacksmith
to be made in time for the exhibition. Families, friends, members
of the public are invited to come to the exhibition and attach flowers,
toys etc. to the gate in honour of all of our children or to remember
a loved one who had died. This exhibition will travel around the
UK and so will be a reminder of the message, ' Never Again'.
In
order for this to happen, I am asking for your help? I am to apply
for funds to get the gate made and need a total of £5,000.
Bolton Art Gallery has donated £500 and Bolton Institute has
donated £300. A family member gave £100, making a total
of £900 in which I am so thankful. I still need to raise £4000.
I
am asking if every family and friend could donate anything they
can afford towards this gate, it would really help. As little as
a pound or £5.00 per family. Or if there are those who could
spare more it would be a great help. Every person or company that
donates will be acknowledged. Please help and respond in partnership
with me, as the deadline to get this gate design to the blacksmith
is February? You can send a cheque to me at the above address and
I can assure you that every donation will be honoured. Please make
this huge project happen?
Forgot
to mention at the opening of the memorial exhibition, the dedication
song 'Living with Angels' will be sung live on the night. The date
is to be confirmed and we will let you know as soon as we hear.
Meanwhile take care and God Bless.
Much
Love
Denise
