Memorial Workshop

As many of you know, Denise Green held a memorial workshop at Bolton Museum & Art Gallery in August, last year. Lots of families involved in organ retention attended and many either brought or made items to be placed in the exhibition. Some wrote poems and letters, others wrote about their own personal thoughts.

At a recent meeting for families in Manchester, Denise gave a presentation and spoke about the workshop held last August. Denise went on to explain about another workshop that she is holding in Manchester Art Gallery in February and the forthcoming exhibition to be opened in May. Two members of the PITY II committee attended the meeting and found the presentation very interesting and informative.

Denise has offered to hold a workshop for other families, hopefully in Liverpool in one of the Art Galleries. This would give more families the opportunity to contribute to the main exhibition, which is opening on May 2nd at the Bolton Museum & Art Gallery. Denise is hoping that the exhibition will travel around the country and possibly overseas, with the message 'Never Again'.

There would be activities for both adults and children to take part in. Before this can be organised though, we need to know how many families would be interested in attending.

Whilst we do not want to prolong distress for any family, those who have attended previously have said how much it helped them move forward. If any of you would be interested in attending such a workshop, possibly in March or early April, please contact PITY II either by phone, letter or email.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
