Dear
families & friends,
We
would like to take this opportunity to say 'Thank You' so much to
those of you that responded to my letter in the last newsletter.
I asked if you could join me in sponsoring the 'Memorial Gate of
Justice', by sending a donation of any amount.
We
were deeply moved by the immediate response in calls, letters &
emails. Many were touching and gave words of encouragement as well
as donations. I only need £1,000 and still have time to raise
it, as the good news is the blacksmith came down in his price.
If
there are any more families that would still like to donate toward
the gate, it would be appreciated. The gate is now in the process
of being made and I get invoiced when completed, this allows extra
time to collect the rest of the funds. Every donation will be honoured
& receipts with a thank you note will be sent to you.
Final
date of the opening night of the exhibition will be Friday 2nd of
May at 6pm - 8.30 p.m. This will take place at the Bolton Art Gallery.
The exhibition will then show for six weeks; ending the 14th. June
2003.
Some
families are arranging to stay overnight so they can be there, which
is a wonderful idea. Others want to send small sprays of flowers
by Interflora for the opening night to be attached to the gate.
If you would like to do this then please let me know, as arrangements
have been made for the Gallery staff to expect flowers to arrive
and they will attach whatever you send to the gate. Please make
sure to have your child's details attached.
The
opening night of the exhibition is by ticket only and I have been
asked by the gallery to find out how many families & friends
wish to come so they know how many to print. A total of 400 only
can come, because of health & safety. If you are planning on
coming, please could you contact me & let me know how many tickets
you would like to order as soon as possible? They will then be sent
to you three weeks before the event. Don't forget the tribute song
'Living With Angels' will be sung live on the night. If we get a
huge response then a celebration closing night will be organised
to end the exhibition.
Lastly,
please let me know if you would like me to organise. a memorial
workshop. We did one for families of 'STORM' at Manchester Art Gallery,
and it was wonderful meeting & making new friends. Letters,
pictures, poems, memorial boxes were made and donated to the exhibition.
Another
workshop was held at a school where 70 children & 20 staff took
part in making a huge banner for the exhibition. A member of staff
& a pupil had family involved in the organ retention. I have
up to the second week in April to do one for you. Please let me
know as soon as possible or let the PITY II office know how many
are interested. I would love to hold one in Liverpool.
On
the 14th of this month we shall be moving house. You can contact
me by post after that date, as we shall have a new email & phone
number. Our post will be redirected.
We
wish every family a happy future, with strength to carry on. To
be able to hold onto precious memories of our children, something
that no one can take from us. For myself, preparing for this exhibition
& giving everyone a voice in it means so much.
This
nation will know of the unnecessary pain hundreds of families has
had to go through, and my prayer is that Justice will come by the
promise of the amendment of the law with penalties attached. Then
we can truly say 'NEVER AGAIN!
God
Bless
Love
Denise & Bill Green
