NACOR National Committee relating to Organ Retention

The Executive of NACOR has asked PITY II to inform our members that NACOR in its active form, will cease to exist on MARCH 31st 2004.

NACOR consulted their members in newsletter 14, and the members of NACOR, felt that the aims and objectives that they hoped to achieve have been met and that this organisation should now cease its active work.

They informed their members of this outcome in their last newsletter, and in their final newsletter at the end of April they will give final contact details of those representatives who will remain available to those who wish to reach them.

They will continue to support and assist those with outstanding issues, but will refer new enquirers on to an appropriate group or organisation. Contact details can be found on the NACOR website www.organretention.org. This website will be available for twelve months.

PITY II will continue to offer help, support and advice to families involved in organ retention issues until the new Human Tissue Bill has been given Royal Assent and become law. This has always been one of our main aims and objectives.

We are also supporting the work of having the unidentifiable babies buried with dignity and respect. This is going to take a considerable period of time. We are grateful for the continued support given to us by our members.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
