Human Tissue Bill

microscopeAs you may be aware, the new Human Tissue Bill was published in December 2003. The Bill was debated by a group of MPs in early February. We have previously reported how a proposal by Dr. Evan Harris, to include presumed consent, had been quashed.

The third reading of the bill is due to take place on Monday the 28th of June and it is hopeful that members of the PITY II executive will attend. We will keep you informed of the progress.

The debates can be read on the parliamentary web-site www.parliament.uk

You can also join in the online debate on the Human Tissue Bill currently taking place on the Spiked website – www.spiked-online.com

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
