Closure of the PITY II Office

The PITY II office was opened in November 2000 and has been ran by a number of volunteers. Through kind donations from families and individuals and funding from the Department of Health we have managed to help and support thousands of families affected by organ retention from all over the country.

We have had almost 800 families on our mailing list and have published 26 newsletters. Unfortunately we are almost out of funding and the decision was taken by the PITY II Executive to close the office. This took place on 28th February.

In accordance to the Data Protection Act, all confidential documentation relating to families and individuals has been shredded. Copies of Redfern report, PITY II newsletters and other reports and documentation relating to organ retention issues will be sent to Liverpool Central Library for archiving.

Office equipment and stationary has been distributed to a local Community Neighbourhood organisation and a local MPs office. Smaller items were given to a charity organisation that raises funds for children with special needs.

You can still stay in contact with PITY II. Our mail is being redirected and any telephone calls made to the PITY II telephone number will automatically be diverted to a PITY II mobile at no extra cost to the caller. Emails can still be sent to pity2uk@yahoo.co.uk .

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
