Memorial Garden and Stone

As you are aware Liverpool City Council donated the land where these babies are buried and we are pleased to advise you that Glendale are preparing a Memorial Garden on this site. A local stonemason has also donated the memorial stone, which will be unveiled when we hold the Memorial service in June to commemorate the burials of these babies. We truly appreciate these kind gestures and we are sure that this garden will be a place of reflection for many people.

The PITY II Executive would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the Glendale and Liverpool City Council staff based at Allerton Cemetery who have worked tirelessly over the past eight months in helping with the burial of the unidentifiable babies. They have shown great care and compassion in all of their dealings with us and have given a tremendous amount of help with the burial arrangements.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
