Funding the Group

The Inquiry Team has agreed to provide some funding for running costs of the group, and we will be claiming the expenses that have been paid out to co-ordinators.

If you are a co-ordinator and have not claimed because you did not want the group to fund your expenses, please do so promptly, so we can get reimbursed from the Inquiry Team.

This funding comes without strings - it is in recognition of the work the support group has put in with the parents to co-ordinate things. This has helped the work of the Inquiry Team, although that was not our intention.

Looking longer term, Sheila Rigby, co-ordinator for St Helens, has had a long experience of fund-raising. She has had a very encouraging meeting with the Council for Voluntary Services in St. Helens, and they have offered to assist with applying for grants and so forth.

PITY II (Parents who have Interred Their Young Twice) is the parents' support group set up in the wake of the organ retention scandal
at Alder Hey Hospital (Liverpool, UK). It aims to provide self help support and advice to affected families.
