Brothers & Sisters Page Banner

Welcome

Welcome to the first of, what we hope will be, a regular feature in our newsletters. This page is intended for the brothers and sisters of children who have been involved in the organ retention issue at Alder Hey. So, if you're a brother or a sister of such a child then this page is for, and about, you!

It doesn't matter how old you are. This page is being constructed by sisters aging from 22 years of age down to 11 years of age. Some of us knew our sister, Natalie, some of us didn't. We know that we all have very different feelings and reactions and think that there will be other brothers and sisters feeling the same way.

We would like to hear from you. How do you feel about it all, for instance, and how have you reacted? Have you been able to talk openly about the issue or are you worried that you may upset your mum and dad? Do you resent what has happened? In fact, anything.

Some of you may like to produce artwork or write articles, letters, and poems. Some of you may prefer to get involved without discussing your feelings but might like to submit puzzles and CLEAN jokes.

No matter what it is that you wish to send in, send it to the Brothers & Sisters Page at PITY II, details at the top of this page, and we'll do our best to include them in future publications.

We are currently organising a 15-mile fancy dress sponsored walk that will take place on Saturday the 9th of June 2001. The walk is open for both parents and siblings.

The money raised will go towards an activity day where brothers, sisters and parents can get together. We will need between £500 and £1000, so the more sponsorship we can get, the better.

If you would like to take part in this walk and get sponsors (or even if you would just like to sponsor us) please let us know as soon as possible by writing to Sponsored Walk at PITY II (details at the top of this page).

Competition

As you may have guessed, Brothers & Sisters Page is just a working title at the moment. We think that some of you out there will have some pretty good titles that we could use. So, write down your suggestions and send them to Name Competition at PITY II (details at the top of this page). Don't forget to include your name and address so that we can send the winner a £10 CD voucher. Closing date - 20th March 2001.

That's about it for this month; we hope you think that this page is a good idea. Remember, if you have any ideas of what the siblings section can do, please let us know.

Best wishes from the team.
