Also some countries have those pleasant 33 celsius temperatures and you may have to walk with the load longer than the minute and a half from your door to that of the taxi. We experienced an hour and a half walk from where the bus stopped looking for the guesthouse we wanted to stay in in Sangklahburi, Thailand. My legs shortened by 40 centimeters with the 85 literbackback I was carrying. I was walking on my knees! |
Picture above: The is beautiful Bryce canyon N.P. in the state of Utah, U.S.A. Picture to the above left: Lei's (strings of flowerheads), buy them and the strong smell will surely end long term friendships. The one's we bought ended up hanging on the car's antenna and after that we put them on Charles Lindbergs grave in Maui because he wouldn't smell them anyway anymore. Picture left: Lava, a good place to spot it, is on the Big Island of Hawai'i a two hours hike from the town of Kalapana, which nearly vanished by the ongoing eruption. |
We took: -International power plug -Torchlight -Passports (carry extra photographs for visa, copies of tickets and passports in every piece of luggage!!) -Tickets -Money, travellerscheques, plastic. |

Above: Capitol Reef N.P. |
-One sweater each -Sturdy shoes, easy shoes -Slippers (To avoid those infections! in muti used showers) -A light jacket (When you are cold you can always wear more layers of clothing) -Tooth brush, paste, toilet gear (don't forget your deodorant to be an example for those backpackers who just stink out the place) -Swiss army knife (Not in your handluggage!!!!! Airport authorities are happy to destroy it!) -Drivers license -Hair dryer (You want to travel in comfort and not catch a cold) -Something to remove facial hair. -Some bandaids -The eventual Lariam, paracethamol and maybe prescription drugs you might be using) |

-Piece of rope (or exrta shoelaces to be able to hang your wash to dry) -A watch with alarm function, sometimes you need to be on time. -Spare glasses, if you can't afford losing the one's you are wearing now. -Deet or other musquito repellant. -Something to clip your nails with -Camera, rolls of film, spare batteries, binoculars (small), Sunglasses, Caps, Sunblock |
-1 roll of toiletpaper (replace when used up) -Discman, empty CD-case + 2 of your best CD's -If you are planning on spectacular inter human relations, protection might be a good idea, use that days shirt to sleep in. |
