Marshall Mad !!!

The oldest 100w Marshall on the web

1965  JTM100 SUPER P.A.

It has all that jazz : Plexi , JTM , certainly block logo but now a handmade tippex logo , alumiium chassis , KT66 valves , Vox type copper vents , gold on white back panel , extra-heavy laid down transformer and it is 100% original (except tippex). Believe me or not , I have not played it yet. I just received it have been looking at it for hours. Sometimes collecting can drive you mad when you find such a piece.
All the 100w of this period (proto-plexi) bear the SUPER PA AMPLIFIER mention on the back , even the so-called JTM45 100w
and 1965 catalogs only showed Super PA amps in 100w.This is why I have always considered these JTM45 100w very suspicious. (for example, Aspen Pittman JTM45 100w amp clearly shows a rubbed off PA mention and call itself a 'SUPER AMP').Of course you can argue that they do have the Vox vents AND small front , but I will still not be convicted .The debate is opened for it is a very unknown period of Marshall history.

What a sight ! All that original treasures . I can take my eyes out of those KT66 on choke and transformers background. Serial number is : 6875 : that still qualify for '65 but let us look closer at the power transformer:

It is the first time I see such a transformer. I am 100% sure it is original because the voltage selector is the same bakelite plug usually found on Marshall stuff. It is so heavy , the amp is completely  unbalanced. It is a miracle the aluminium chassis could hold that weight all these years.

TThis is another JTM 100w p.a.bearing the rare reverse jtm logo. This qualifies it as a '67 and these 2 years between this amps really make a difference: strong steel chassis, el34 and most of all, it is still working in perfect shape. Mr.Jim really improved  his amps to be reliable under real live music conditions on the road.

And inside the view is quite the same than in usual plexi 100w. Notice my cherished cloth restainers still in duty after all these years. Good girls.
