Marshall Mad !!!

    JTM45   v/s    JMP50

     Into pedals too? See
  JACQUES STOMPBOXES

These two amps are very similar and different at the same time.
First ,  I own a JMP50 which is JMP on the face but completely JTM45 for the chassis and backplate. But that is a rare case I think.
Usually differences are:
- KT66 for EL34
- GZ34 for diode rectifier….and that's it!
But sound is not the same at all so it is more an evolution in the electronic conception of what should be the small companion of his Majesty the 100w plexi.

First pic is the JTM45 featured in all my site.
Below is the JMP50 with JTM45 chassis.And last is a JMP50 plexi.
As you can see differences in lay-out are minimal and do not justify such a different sound. My theory is that Marshall wanted to make its 45w louder in order to compete more efficiently with Fender amps.In this process they add more rigidity is the tone. The JMP50 is a GREAT amp but it does not compare to JTM45.

Short guide to 45w/50w Marshall:
They work all the same: full volume and then roll off your guitar volume to control distortion. Equalization is a matter of taste but usually full bass/half treble. Presence : full for blues/cut for rock as a quick rule.
