Sometimes I wonder why there was a second trip, if this was the first one. It was long and winding stream, over beaver dams and portages, that brought us to rootbeer lake. I chose that route for the inaugral trip based on advice from someone, who I realize now, was a bona fide masochist. But it was beautiful, as all beginnings are.
