Miss Hitomi knocked on the door and peeked in. "Miss Tendo, a Mr. Saotome to see
you."

"Thanks Sakura," Akane told the secretary as she left. Akane's brown eyes roamed
over her desk as the young man entered her small and crowded office. She let
her eyes travel to the door where he stood. He was young, about her age. He looked
oddly out of place in his business suit, his blue eyes held a air of… confidence? The
only thing still boyish about him was his braided pigtail.

"Akane Tendo," Akane rose and offered her hand to him. He stepped forward and
shook it.

"Ranma Saotome." He never let his gaze from her, as a cheetah might with it's prey
before it's fate.

Needless to say, Akane didn't like feeling like the prey. She was, after all, the owner of
this orphanage and had managed to give all of the children here somewhat a home, and
she was sure as hell if she was going to let this jackass take it away from her.

"Mr. Saotome, have a seat, won't you?" She asked pleasantly.

"Thank you." He said as they both sat down. "Let's get down to business, shall we?
Your business here-"

Akane cut him off. "Excuse me, Mr. Saotome, but this is an orphanage, not some stock
trade. This place has a meaning and a purpose here and I won't see it go down. Not
without a fight."

"Don't you see it? This place isn't doing too well, Aka-"

"-Miss Tendo-"

"*Miss Tendo*, and I think it's high time that it is abandoned. This building's so old, it's
older than my father!"

"And where will these children go?!" Akane yelled, standing suddenly. "This is the only
home they know! I won't rest until it is safe for them."

Ranma sighed and stood himself. "If you're going to be that way about it, you give me
no choice. You have two weeks to get these children out or the building falls around
their ears." He pulled a paper from his briefcase, laid it on the old and weathered desk
and started for the door.

He had barely opened the door when something lightweight hit him squarely in the back
of the head. He saw that it was the piece of paper that he'd left on the desk. He turned
halfway to look at her out of the corner of his eye. She was practically fuming. "You
*jackass*! You cold, heartless bastard! Get out of here, this instant!"

He said nothing more and stepped out into the hallway, and stopped at Miss Hitomi's
desk two seconds before he heard Miss Tendo's door slam shut once more.

Akane leaned against her office door. 'What a complete JERK!' she thought
venomously. She shut her eyes for a moment. Yet, something about him had made
her adrenaline rush in such a way… no, she was just imagining it. It was probably just
yelling at that bull-headed idiot.

A gentle knock on the door brought her back to reality. She jerked the door open and
barked a "What?!" at the person behind it.

"Eek!" Sakura said as she closed her eyes in surprise behind her glasses.

"Oh, I'm sorry Sakura. I thought it was-"

"Mr. Saotome?" Akane cringed at the mere mention of his name. Sakura handed her a
small slip of paper that had been folded over once.

"What is this?" Akane asked.

"I have no idea, Akane. He handed it to me after he left your office." Sakura lent down
to pick up the wadded piece of paper that Akane had thrown.

Akane unfolded the paper and stared at it.

"What does it say, if you don't mind my asking?" Sakura asked.

" 'Let's make a date sometime. 864-8372 ~Ranma Saotome'" Akane crushed he note
in her hand. "Well, he can just forget about that."

"Akane!!!" a little girl of five ran up to her.

She bent down and hugged the little girl. "Sugi! Shouldn't you be in class?"

Shampoo came huffing and puffing up the stairs, carrying a book labeled 'Literature'.
"Yes, Sugi should be in class now!"

"It's all right Shampoo. Thanks for your concern." Akane told her friend as she picked
up Sugi.

Shampoo smiled. "S'okay." She turned back to the rest of the class that had followed
her out. "Back to class! Or I give you Kiss of Death!" That sent the whole class
running back to their seats.

Akane hugged little Sugi close. "Maybe it'll all be okay." She said to herself.

Ranma sat back in his car and sighed heavily. Akane -*Miss Tendo*- was quiet a lady.
Beauty, confidence, stubbornness… well, she was almost perfect. She had a
fierceness to her that enhanced her physical beauty.

He shook his head. A woman shouldn't have affected him like this, especially *this*
woman.

"Problems, sir?" Ranma looked up to see his chauffeur looking back at him in concern.
Or what he at least took for concern.

"No, Renjiro. My meeting with Aka- ah, Miss Tendo, ended on a bad note, shall we say."
Ranma said.

"Ah, always a woman, sir."

Ranma glanced at him curiously. " 'Always a woman' what?"

Renjiro laughed lightly. "It is always a woman who is the main cause of chaos in a
man's life."

"And how would that be?" Ranma asked sarcastically.

"When she catches the attention of a man. A man, such as yourself." Renjiro said.

"Are you suggesting that this Miss Tendo has 'caught' my attention, as you put it so
bluntly?" Ranma asked.

Renjiro looked into the mirror and smiled. "I am suggesting nothing, Mr. Saotome. I am
merely telling it how I see it."

Ranma sat back against the black leather of the seat and huffed. "Why do you, Renjiro,
have to be so wise?"

Renjiro just laughed again.
