This is a locally cut Purple Sapphire from a North Carolina river mounted with a large old Cherokee pottery shard. The pottery shard is from a large Grass Pattern pot that ended up in the river on the Cherokee Reservation. The local children pick them up and sell them. One day an ancient women pressed clay into her worn out grass basket then fired it ~ burning away the old basket. You can see the impression of the basket's freying worn spot on the face of the shard! All are mounted in Fine Silver with Sterling jump rings. It is totally unique and an excellent grounding piece!
