Some pics from our trip
Day 2 saw a Fin Whale washed up down the beach from us.It was 57 feet long and estimated to weigh 40 tons. The Fin Whale is the second largest mammal known to man right after the Blue Whale. Sad but at the same time intersting.Something most people will see only once in a lifetime.Pic above shows a crowd gathering to watch the necropsy about to be performed by Virginia Beach Marine Science Museum stranding team. The crowd grew to about 150 people.
Where we rented this trip, "The Lucky Star".
View off the deck. That is the USS Bataan on the horizon. It stayed in the same location for 2 days.We determined what ship it was through the telescope and an internet search. The amphibious warfare landing ship is homeported in Norfolk, Va.
Looking to the southeast off our deck.
