Anemia
Anemia:
The reduction of red corpuscles in the blood. The seriousness of this complaint
depends upon its cause, whether from hemorrhage, insufficient generation of new
red corpuscles, infection, etc. Anemia is not a disease but a symptom revealing
some pathological development that must be determined. An anemic cat is weak,
has a bad appetite, urinates little, wastes away, and develops pallor of the mucous
membranes. Once a vet determines the cause of the anemia, the cat can be treated
properly.
