Contusion

Contusion: The result of a violent blow from a non-cutting outside object (collision, fall, a thrown stone) usually accompanied by painful swelling. There may be lacerations, bruises, or hematoma (a swelling suffused with blood). The blood is normally reabsorbed quickly upon application of a warm poultice or a pomade.
