· BumbleBees capsule: Late-season undefeated showdowns were new territory to coach Dick Williams' Bees, especially on homecoming. Lincoln generously gave WO-S five turnovers, losing that many for the second straight week, and dropping a 31-15 game that was 17-15 with three minutes to go. WO-S defense bottled up Bees offense except for two plays, a 73-yard pass from Calvin Roberts to Daniel Francis and a 58-yard run by ShanDerrick Charles. Best defenders were hard-working tackles Melvin Getwood and Israel Joubert but WO-S hurt Lincoln frequently with the sweep and wide toss plays.
· Indians capsule: It looked to be rolling nicely Saturday night at TJ. PN-G took a 14-0 lead before its big enemy, the turnover, came back to haunt the Indians again. Coach Matt Burnett's Tribe lost 30-21, though leading in first downs, 19-17. Junior QB Kirk Hallmark threw for his most yards (163) in a game this season and came mighty close to throwing for a lot more. TB Jeff Bergeron (4 for 44) and TE Jared Gary (3 for 54) had their best receiving games, while the defense produced 21-yard interception return for a touchdown by OLB Jeff LeBlanc.
· Williams says: "PN-G's just had some bad breaks. They're a whole lot better than that 3-4 record. They're not to be taken lightly. Bergeron and Price are good. Their quarterback threw the ball well in the first half and I don't know what happened to him after that. I know we're going to have to play our A game to be successful.... We played our C or D game last week, but I think the kids have responded positively from it. You can learn more from negatives than positives. We just need to keep focused on this one."
· Burnett says: "They have so much big-play capability with Francis, Wilson, Proctor, Charles and Roberts. So we have to limit their amount of big plays. They're real physical defensively and they're doing a good job of what (defensive coordinator Bernard) coach Bell's got 'em doing.... The kids certainly didn't feel they played as well as they could play at TJ. I think our offense picked it up a little and is starting to come around. But our defense gave up too many big plays. The most encouraging thing has been our character and the way we've had such excellent practices this week."
