Mustangs crush LC-M, 53-0
WEST ORANGE - Darrow Judge and Quincy Lynch scored two touchdowns each and West Orange-Stark's stifling defense limited Little Cypress-Mauriceville to 97 total yards as the Mustangs put the finishing touches on a 10-0 regular season with a 53-0 rout of its neighboring rival.
The victory sends District 20-4A champ WO-S into the playoffs next week against Jasper. LC-M ended a 2-8 season with seven consecutive losses and an 0-5 record in league play.
Judge, who carried seven times for 119 yards, scored on runs of five and 72 yards. Lynch, who had 88 yards on 10 carries, tallied on runs of six and 50 yards. Other Mustang TDs came on a seven-yard run by Vonteer Edwards, an 18-yard scamper by Kenton James and a three-yard run by Marquee Hudson.
The Mustangs also scored twice on safeties, with one on a blocked punt that went out of the end zone and another time when the LC-M punter was tackled in the end zone.
LC-M managed only four first downs and had no yards passing. The shutout was the fourth of the year and second in a row for West Orange-Stark. The Mustangs allowed only 56 points in 10 games.
