Design and Fabrication of Automatic Pneumatic Glue Dispensing Machine
Abstract:
The project mainly consists of design and manufacturing of the machine. The basic purpose of the machine is to dispense two different types of glues through nozzles, making use of air pressure, for a predetermined length of time, by use of a timer. This particular machine will find its use in manual assembly of two parts of a speaker. The assembled speakers are then supplied to the leading companies like AIWA and PHILIPS. The speaker part is to be kept rotating with the help of a motor, while the machine dispenses glue over its circumference. This part would then be assembled with another part to complete the operator's job. The main parts of the machine include: Pneumatic cylinder and piston, pneumatic valves, motor, containers for glues, nozzles for dispensing glue, locators for precisely locating the position of nozzles, electronic timers and a limiting switch. The cylinder
is mounted on a frame carrying a wedge shaped guide for precise sliding motion. The machine
makes use of a temperature sensor to sense temperature changes throughout the day. As the glues are very sensitive to temperature changes, their viscosity changes. Comparators are
used in the electronic circuit, which change the timer setting according to the temperature. This particular setup reduces wastage of glue significantly, as the cost of the glue is quite high. Air input to the pneumatic cylinder
is through an air compressor, not included as a part of the machine. The glue bottles
are made of DELRINÒ. Metal cannot be used as the glues react with metals.
