British Polar No. 216 looking clean and tidy

Engine 216 around 1985, probably about the time of the installation of the new muffler system. This occurred at the time the water cooling towers were removed to allow Keith Street to be completed outside the power station doors. The board along the front of the engine, carrying the fuel delivery line, indicates that the photo was taken after the installation of the new fuel daily service tanks on the upstairs balcony. These replaced the originals that formerly were located above the opposite end (obscure at left) of the engine. Those ones are reputed to have been sent to Waiheke Island - but for what purpose?.
