Palmerston North's Energy Generating Facilities - past and present!

This series of early photos show the Palmerston North Gas Works, where the power station (obscure) is actually sited on the hilltop slightly to the right of the scene as shown. The middle photo is the power station, while the lower one shows Tiritea (latterly Turitea) Dam, which provides the city's water supply and which in the first half of 2001 is having a small hydro power station installed on it.
