Upstairs Display Room

(which is clearly still 'redecoration in progress - but where do we start!')

Formerly the large storage room for spare parts, in time PNEPS plans to have this room set up as a 'proper' display room, but for now it is used occasionally on open days. It is fortunate that the room is yet to be carpeted, as a major leak soon after the new roof was installed, flooded this room and therefore the room below it. (Photo: VAB, 25/2/2001)

PNEPS has inherited some display boards from old electrical organisations, and the map of New Zealand, complete with flashing lights to indicate power stations, is a special feature that was created in 1988 for the centenary of the first public supply of electricity in New Zealand. The large picture is of the Benmore Dam in the South Island, during its early years. Evidence of some of the work of vandals still decorates these walls. (Photo: VAB, 25/2/2001)

Some more of the display items PNEPS has inherited, complete with a wind farm picture of more recent origin. This picture also shows the small white plaque mounted on the wall that acknowledges that much of the collection was inherited by the society, from  the Hamilton-based National Electrical Museum Society, and in turn the name of the man  who had organised that project originally. The bulk of this material arrived in August and September 1999. Display shelving is another of the many obvious needs of PNEPS, as it becomes established. (Photo: VAB, 25/2/2001)
