Welcome to my photo journal documenting the assembly of the Pocher brand kit of the 1932 Rolls Royce Sedanca Coupé, page 7

Next were the rear brakes. These are the pieces that makeup one side. Remember that there is one set of shoes for the foot operated brakes and one set of shoes for the emergency (or parking) brake.

The next major problem was the result of the poor quality of the manufacturing process. The two shoes you see here are both sides of the identical piece. As you can see, one shoe has a post where the spring would attach and the other doesn't.

I needed to make a post for the spring to be attached. I ended up cutting a post from the other side. It wasn't going to be used nor was it ever going to be seen once assembled. Actually, it interfered with the operation of the brakes since it rubbed against the backing plate and would hang-up on the parking brake shoes. I then drilled a socket for the post to sit in and glued the post into the socket. Had I glued the post onto the flat surface, it may have sheared off under the tension of the spring. The socket provided a more solid solution.

Here it goes all finished and heat flared into position.

Next were the service brake shoes and the assembly was complete.

This is a photo of the completed assembly on the other side.
