How do I get a Pretec CF LAN card to work with my Casio E-100?

The following question was posted in microsoft.public.windowsce by Dan Stephens:

Anyone using this combination?  I have the 3.3v Pretec LAN card and the E-100.  They don't seem to be working together. I have tried on two different networks, with two different proxies and with a cross over cable.  I have tried DNS and static IPs.  Nothing.  I suspect the card may be incompatible or just plain bad. I cannot even ping onemachine from the other under any of these conditions.

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know that a buddy and I got our Pretec CF Lan cards working with our E-100's. We both had the same problems as Dan, until we installed the Socket LPE drivers (you can download them through Socketcom.com or through www.palm-size.com... Thanks, Chris (again) ) The problem I had was that my NDIS was the wrong size.. dunno how it got that way, but it works now. For your info, some of the relevant files, with their dates and sizes from our Windows dir:

arp.dll 30k 15/07/98
dhcp.dll 21k 15/07/98
ndis.dll 65k 15/07/98
ne2000.dll 30k 15/07/98

Like I said, the ndis.dll was my problem.. I had another that was 68k, and when I put the 65K one back in, tada.. it worked. The ping is little slow for me, because it's a direct connect and I don't have DNS, but at least I'm able to ping at all. Hope this is helpful.
