Resurrection Sonnet
By Ralph Sirvent, Jr.

It was not merely chance that saved my soul.
My salvation was planned before the sky.
The Lord of Hosts planned out each precept, whole,
Before He ever dreamed that I would die.
You see I am a man, a fragile thing.
I do not always do what I should do.
But God is holy and on cherub wing
Prepared for me a way to live anew.
A resurrected creature then am I.
On silver cherub wings I soar above.
For all things here on earth I have passed by,
In order to make room for God's sweet love.
My heart is open now, O Lord, come in,
And cleanse me now of all the sin within.
