Buried Treasure

Constrained by bonds of earthly flesh
I weep at what could be.
Why do they keep on looking
outside themselves for me?

I am that seed that had to die
to bring forth fruit and love.
Why do they seek to look for me
in clouds so high above?

My word has told them not to look
here or there for my return.
That my kingdom comes not by sight,
but is contained within their earth.

They still insist upon the law
when they should walk in liberty.
They try to get beyond the veil
through works instead of me.

This earthen temple has become
a valley of dead men's bones.
They still refuse to follow me,
they keep on casting stones.

By grace my love has saved them,
but they think it's by their deeds.
They continue to condemn and judge
and plant all the wrong seeds.

If only they could learn to love
each other as they are,
Then they would soon become like me,
a bright new morning star.

Oh Father, dear, please help me
from the minds that seal my plight.
Release them from their unbelief
that keeps me bound so tight.

Let them see that what they see
is not the truth at hand.
And maybe that will loose me
to arise throughout their land.

Because if they would only look
within I know they'd see
That I am that I am has come
to live within and be

The light to show all men the way,
the truth to make them free.
Dear Father, let them look inside
and see that I am he.

The one who's come to show the way,
the one who's come to give.
My live in exchange for theirs,
that they may learn to live.
