Lost Love

Looking down at the clump of dirt
in a small mound
you wonder why
she was your last hope
your last love
and now shes gone
gone
like the summer sun
on a winter day
gone
like a peaceful dream
when you're awakened
you loved her
your eyes glisten as you remember holding her softly
swiftly
pulling her toward you
without a regret
a second glance
just sureness
security
love
your shoulders drop as you remember the first time
you told her
and she responded
almost like an echo
your heart melts as you see yourself
joining hands with her
hands that were melded together
as one
your head pounds as you remember the fight
the tears
the slaps
that knocked her down
gone
the tears fall as you remember the gun
and your own hand..
pulling the trigger
