Birthday Memoriam

I want to give you wishes
to celebrate this day
To share in the occasion
that would be your birthday.

I want to give you love
from the bottom of my heart
And show the endless devotion
you always did impart.

I want to give you happiness
and a smile for your face
to hear you chuckle once again
and feel your warm embrace.

I want to give you so much joy
more than you could know
To make you proud of me now,
and all that you bestowed.

I want to give you memories
of all our years together
The fun times and all we shared
will be in my heart forever.

I want to give you this special gift
wrapped only in my love
And send it on a wishing star
to the Heavens above.

I want to give you all these things
with tender loving care
But since you've been gone for ten years
I will send them in a prayer.

But most all, I want to give you
a great big hug today
And celebrate with love to share ~
to Gran, Happy Birthday.

Today is my grandmother's birthday ~ she would've been 78. I wrote this poem as a tribute to her and her memory especially for her birthday. I want to give her so much, but I can't now.

RIP Gran, Evadne Hodgetts
