In
the Best Interests of the Children
Putting the phone back
down again
with sadness in our
eyes
The realisation of
the damage done
make us just want
to cry ~
After long arduous
hours
waiting for the phone
to ring
We hope that in the
coming weeks
will see some happenings.
Phone calls with the
Department
seem to go nowhere
While arguing what
we think is best
is for them to be
in our care ~
After the heartbreaking
conditions
those children had
lived in
We just want to offer
them
all that they were
missing.
In desperate need of
security
and a stable loving
home
The love that we can
give them
is something they've
never known ~
Too young to remember
what are lies or truth
But old enough to
be aware
of the heartache they've
been through.
It saddens us to think
that they
have never known the
love
To be safe and feel
secure
the life that they
dream of ~
Our hearts cry out
for their pain
and hoping they will
see
That they will come
to know with us
love and security.
Right now it appears
to be
the Department doesn't
care
That if they looked
close enough
there is no question
there ~
What they have is
past history
and those no longer
apply
We only want to establish
what my husband's
been denied.
So difficult to see
the truth
with so much hate
and lies
The stories that they
have been told
is now fear in their
eyes ~
For they only know
the anger
they had drawn from
their mum
and cannot see beyond
that fear
of what she said he'd
done.
So we begin to have
access
to build a new rapport
With the children
we so long to show
the love that they
search for ~
At first it's just
the phone calls
to establish a kind
of trust
Until they are more
comfortable
and they begin seeing
us.
So while we have their
interests
firmly in our minds
We realise they're
not ready
to see us at this
time ~
There is too much
confusion
they cannot understand
While they thought
he was a monster
he now reaches out
his hand.
A long road to recovery
for some time to come
To repair the brokenness
and damage she had
done ~
As time goes by they
will see
the good is not all
bad
And the secure love
they'll come to know
from me and their
dad.
The best interests
of the children
are deep in our hearts
The life that we can
give to them
will hopefully soon
start ~
It gives us joy to
see that they
will soon know the
love
For the security of
these children
is all we can think
of.

"I wrote this about
our struggle with the Department in trying to show we have stability and
security to offer these children, and fighting with the past history and
rubbish that has been dealt upon the minds of these little ones. My husband
has been denied his children for so long now, we have to rebuild a rapport
with them, and show them that those stories are different ~ WE are different.
We have the best interests of the children in our hearts and minds."
