Born Again

Last night was your "birthday"
as you stood before the Lord
Your heart crying for a desire,
you wanted something more ~
The peace of God enveloped you
you felt a joy within
Excited by this new life found
you now put your trust in Him.

Burning deep within you
a fire filled your soul
A knowledge that His greatest gift
has now made you whole ~
The empty void you used to feel
something was missing
Has been replaced with His love
and a sense of peace within.

Your hunger for the Word of God
you want to learn more
To really know and understand
like you never have before ~
You immerse yourself as you read
the gospel according to John
To learn about Jesus' teachings
a new lesson in right and wrong.

You seek the Lord for wisdom
for the trials that you face
Instead of cursing that it's too hard
God gives you strength in place ~
You pray for guidance to help you
in His wisdom and His love
And know that you can shelter in
the safe arms of His love.

Now you wake up every morning
with a fire in your soul
Knowing that God's promises
of His love has made you whole ~
The peace of God that fills you
and desire to follow the Truth
Gives new purpose to your life
because Jesus died for you!

So thankful for the joy you've found
and the Truth you came to see
To learn this gift of new life
will be for Eternity ~
And knowing that His promises
of love will never end
You thank God for His gift
to be born again.

"I wrote this poem about my husband's decision to let Jesus into his heart.   He had been attending church with me for about five months and searching his own heart before seeking God and asking Him to take charge of his life.   He had experienced God's peace and strength at a time when we both needed it, and made the decision to let him into his heart and to follow His plan for life.  It was a happy time for me as well as my husband.  This poem could be about any person's search for the real meaning of life and finding God at the centre of it.   God bless you."
