Broken
Hearts in
Broken
Hands
In the years of married
bliss
there never seemed
to be
A time that was more
difficult
between you and me
~
Life's new set of
challenges
that causes so much
strain
Just brings heartache
to our lives
where love once reigned.
Though darkness seems
to fall upon
this blessed love
we share
When words of anger
curse and spit
around us everywhere
~
When there doesn't
seem to be another
way to make it right
The silence that separates
us
we take to bed each
night.
Frustration comes between
us
as there never seems
to be
The time for us to
sit and talk
when it's just you
and me ~
The loneliness of
our own thoughts
and feelings that
we bear
Adds to the silent
strain and
limited time we share.
Nothing else that we
have lived
has brought us so
much pain
The differences that
we share
we always overcame
~
Instead of hurling
angry words
we have one another,
So why do we fight
like this
when we should work
together?
Anger, hurt and frustration
should never be a
part
Of the love that you
and I share
deep within our hearts
~
In times like these
we should remember
that we have each
other
To overcome life's
challenges
now until forever.

"I wrote this poem
in the midst of the problems we were having with my husband's children
or with the Department of Human Services. Either way, the stresses
of of it all seemed to much, and we constantly fought about everything!
It was and still a difficult time....and stressful. So often
we'd take things out on each other when realy we should be sitting down
and working on it together. Sometimes when we really need each other
are the times when we really hurt each other, and push one another away."
