The
Empty Church
High above the altar
where
a stained glass window
shines
Depicting Christ upon
the Cross
the love of God divine.
Angels, saints, the
Virgin Mary
glisten in the sun
The empty church that
stands alone
is mocked by everyone.
A crucifix lay on the
floor
splintered everywhere
The Son of God is
now dead
see Him laying there!
Bibles, Hymn books,
rosaries
scattered on the floor
Broken pieces of the
God
isn't "truth" anymore.
A chalice empty of
the wine
spilled the floor
with blood
As candles burn the
house of God
that once withstood
a flood;
Pages torn from the
Bibles
of God's forgotten
Word
Disappear among the
embers
so it cannot be heard.
Echoes of a choir
as they sing in agony
For the church that
stands alone
in God's own destiny;
The stained glass
window shatters
now splintered in
the sun
The burning cross
falls to the ground;
"look what God has
done?!"
The empty shell of
the church
again stands alone
The final judgement
cast upon
hypocrisy was known;
As smoke spiralled
to the sky
a weathered Cross
appeared
and as God washed
the blood away
He gently shed a tear.

"This is a metaphorical
poem symbolising many things but mainly the decline of Christianity in
today's society. It speaks of the sad fact that many people don't
think that Christianity is relevant today, and that is no longer true.
It shows how people see the church today through the eyes of the ritualistic
rules of traditional denominations such as Anglican and Catholic.
Full of hypocrites, the judgmental and the weak. And it also shows
how people blame God when things go wrong. Saying that God
doesn't love His people enough to really save them and keep them from all
harm, hurt and pain.
None of this is true!
What is true is that God loves ALL of us ~ even those who think this way
~ and that God's Word is Truth. God says in His Word that Jesus is
the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He never changes,
and neither does His Truth. Christianity is just as relevant
today as it was in Biblical times ~ and it always will be.
The end of the poem I show how it breaks God's heart to see today's society
reject Him but how He still forgives us. He washes our sins away
through the blood of His Son and He cries for us....That is Love.
God's love."
Jesus is alive and
well....I spoke with Him this morning!
