For the Love of Maurice ~ Our Favourite Bee Gee

Tragedy has rocked the world
with the death of a Bee Gee
Who was loved by many
for his smile and energy ~
And in a special kind of tribute
to the memory of our Mo
I dedicate these lines
to the Bee Gee that we loved so.

He was always easy-going,
he had such energy
And his enthusiasm for life
that had overcome tragedy ~
Made him someone special
in a unique sort of way
Now lives within our memories
as we mourn his death today.

Maurice, you could light up a room
with the charm of your smile
Your presence was immediate,
and never lacking style ~
An easy-going extrovert
with a twinkle in your eyes
You'd won the hearts of millions,
that was no surprise.

You brought to life the stage
of each and every show
With your energetic charisma
that would captivate and flow ~
Into the hearts of everyone
who hung on every line
Of every song that was performed,
captured within time.

Your following of millions
that began in the seventies
Came with the success of "Fever"
a new era for the Bee Gees ~
But beneath the high of success
was a secret that you bore
And so the depths of alcoholism
took you to the very core.

Not something you were proud of
it took ahold of your life
But with the help of your family
and support of your loving wife ~
You awoke from the nightmare
in the face of tragedy
And never took a drink again,
it became a memory.

So you carried with you the legacy
each time you took the stage
The AA badge on your lapel
that spoke of your courage ~
Along with the hat you always wore
with your trademark smile
Became a part of the man we loved
who simply emanated his style.

Dear Maurice, will it ever be the same
recording without you?
Can your trio be a duo now,
surviving with only two?
And performing to the millions
with that same energy,
Will they still capture the unique sound
without your harmony?

For the love of the Bee Gees
we will miss you Mo,
Your enthusiasm and smiling face
meant more than you could know ~
You brought much joy to all you met,
such a sweet and generous guy
I will forever remember your radiance
and the twinkle in your eyes.

Dear Maurice, the man we loved
who had such energy
Your enthusiasm for life
is now just a memory ~
For the love of the Bee Gee
who will be missed so,
Gone is the dazzling smile
of the man that we called "Mo".
