Memories of a generation
that seems so long
ago
Of another time, another
place
of those she used
to know ~
Of cold winter mornings
or the gentle summer
rain
And being wrapped
in grandma's love
she wished she'd feel
again.
Remembering the laughter
or the beating of
her heart
When safe within the
arms of love,
she didn't want to
part ~
When in the arms of
grandma
is where she loved
to be
Though that generation
of love has gone,
it will live eternally.
A memory of security
from her childhood
Gave her strength
to rise above
everything she could
~
When the voice of
her grandma
she always heard her
say
"Remember that strength
within you,
for tomorrow is another
day!"
A lifetime of warm
advice
still remains in her
mind
The gentle generations
of love,
so warm, loving and
kind ~
She was her greatest
confidante,
a warm and loving
friend
The memories of the
times they shared
she never thought
would end.
Remembering with a
fondness,
sitting by the fireplace
Looking at the warmth
of love
upon her grandma's
face ~
When she enjoyed playing
piano
for her grandmother
to hear,
She'd listen with
a gentle pride
and always shed a
tear.
She can still see
her grandma
within her memory
A whole generation
of love
lasting for eternity
~
When the greatest
thing she taught her
to be all she had
dreamed of,
The greatest memory
that she has
is wrapped in her
grandma's love.

"When I saw these graphics,
I just knew there was a poem in it! And as I wrote the lines, I found
myself reflecting on my own grandmother, who died in when I was 18.
I guess you could say these words are a part of the memories I have of
her ~ her unconditional love, her strength, her wisdom, her inner beauty
and the warmth in her hugs....I guess I could say I felt safe there.
I felt security with my gran, because she loved me. I call it "Generations
of Love" because she always gave me her love, and it reflected in everything
she did for me. And she passed that love onto me....a new generation
of love. And though she has gone now from this life, she will always
remain in our hearts and memories forever, where her memory will stay alive.
This poem is dedicated
to the memory of my beloved grandmother ~ Evadne Constance Hodgetts.
Gran, where ever you are, this is for you. I love you always."
