Jesus of Gallilee

He came to earth but a child
in a stable He was born,
He could walk on water and feed five thousand
and even calm a storm ~
He was a carpenter, a fisher of men
and said "Come, follow Me",
He was a man, and the Messiah,
He was Jesus of Gallilee.

He healed the deaf so they may hear
and made the blind to see
He gave the lame the strength to walk
and commanded spirits to flee ~
He walked among the sinners
He lived and ate with them
The Son of God was but a peasant
who became their friend.

He told of stories in parables
with important lessons to learn
He was a teacher, a gift to man,
the love for which we yearn ~
A counsellor in troubled times
a dear and trusted friend
He gave to them the gift of hope
and on Him we can depend.

He came to earth as a child
but He died as a man
Punished for sins He did not commit
some cannot understand ~
He took our place upon the Cross
"Father forgive them," He cried,
For He loved us all so much
that He stretched out His arms and died.

Greater love has no man
He was known to say
That he lay down his life
as He had done that day ~
For He was a living example
of what we all should be,
He was a man, the Son of God,
He was Jesus of Gallilee.

"This poem is about the man Jesus was....on earth and as the Son of God.   From His birth in the stable to being a carpenter and teacher to His sacrifice on the Cross for us.   He became a man and friend to all, and though He was the Son of God, He lived as one them."
