Little
Angels with
Broken
Wings
Beautiful and innocent
born into the love
They were angels sent
from Heaven
wrapped in the arms
of love ~
So perfect in their
beauty
they began to slowly
grow
In the shadow of their
parents
in the world they
came to know.
So within their angelic
world
in their eyes they
came to see
That the life they
learned together
was something that
would be
Always in their mind's
eye
as they grew together
The angels of this
childlike world
would always have
each other.
Their innocence reflected
when looking through
their eyes
They didn't know their
family love
would fall apart and
die ~
So their little child's
world
of love and heartfelt
things
Began to crumble before
they had
grown their angel's
wings.
Ripped into another
world
of bitterness and
lies
These little ones
could only see
the hate before their
eyes ~
So torn up in confusion
and the anger they
could see
Their world crumbled
before them
with their only security.
Their angelic world
now shattered
with the hate that
they live in
While these little
ones start to learn
to grow their little
wings ~
So in trying to spread
them out
and finding their
own way
Their little wings
are then broken
before they can fly
away.
They see the tears
and anger
and they also know
the hate
These innocent little
angels,
they only know this
fate ~
The only lessons they
were taught
in the spiteful things
they said
They didn't know any
better than
the lies they had
been fed.
These little ones yearn
for things
that they only can
dream of
While the angels in
the Heavens
shine down on them
with love ~
To give them hope
to rise above
the hatred and the
pain
And become beautiful
little angels
and learn to love
again.
The sadness in their
little eyes
is beyond compare
As they learn to rise
above their pain
with the bond they
share ~
And so they see that
security
and love heals anything
As they become those
little angels
mending their broken
wings.
So beautiful in their
innocence
of their forgotten
childhood
They will blossom
into the angels
to fly as they should
And growing in the
love they'll know
they can be anything
For these little angels
no longer will
have broken little
wings.

"I wrote this poem
about my husband's children who have been subjected to so
much pain, hatred,
anger and mistreatment by their mother over the years since
my husband last saw
them. She lost custody of them to the DHS, who put them into
protective custody,
and then she died of an OD a month later. These children are
the innocent ones....they
are little angels with broken wings...."
One of my favourite
poems.
