Lonely
Christmas
The tree
stands tall and decorated
with
tinsel and with lights
With
presents scattered around beneath
as it
glows so bright.
The shops
are decked with boughs of holly
the
spirit of the season's here
Everywhere
the carols are playing ~
Christmastime
is near.
Though
it's the season to be jolly
without
you here with me
Christmas
will not be Christmas
until
the day you're free.
Not a
moment of the day goes by
that
I don't think of you
All
alone without me there
to share
this time with you.
This
Christmas Day I'll be alone
with
you close to my heart
I'll
miss you more till your release
than
the miles keeps us apart.
For Christmas
is togetherness
to celebrate
in unity
And
we will have our own Christmas
when
at last you are free.
We'll
be together as one in spirit
but
it's not the same I know
Still
once we're past December
it's
not that far to go.
This
Christmas won't be the same
without
being with each other
This
was a new year of our lives
and
our first one together.
So if
you asked me for just one wish
I guess
it'd have to be
That
this Christmas will be the only one
you'll
spend without me.

"A sad
and lonely time for me, when our first Christmas together was spent in
the heat of the visitor's compound on Boxing Day. My family lived 1000
kms away, and my fiancé (now husband) was in prison because of a
"manipulated justice". It was time of strengthening in our relationship,
but it was also a very trying and lonely time for both of us ~ especially
Christmas."
