A heart full of memories
wrapped in the embrace
Of the love of someone special
from another time and place ~
Seen within the beauty
of her faded photograph
Is the smile and dancing eyes
and the memory of her laugh.

The essence of her beauty,
her life of simple pleasures
The memories on the dresser
of her sentimental treasures ~
A generation of love
seen throughout the years
Brings happiness and joy
and a memory of tears.

Her warmth and her beauty
the smile on her face
Her heart full of love
within her embrace ~
Memories of happiness,
though gone from this time
Could never be forgotten
or far from our minds.

Reflections of family
celebrating together
Memories of this special day
remembering forever ~
Looking at her photograph
I could almost hear her say
How thankful she is
to be loved in this way.

A heart full of memories
wrapped in the embrace
Of the love of my Gran
who's gone to another place ~
I remember with love
on this special day
That if she was still with us
she'd be 80 today.

Memories on the dresser
of faded photographs
Of a generation remembered
for her warmth and her laugh ~
Gone, but not forgotten,
she's looking back at me
From her photo on the dresser
through the years of memories.

28th October, 2002

"Today is 28th October, and it would have been my grandmother's 80th birthday had she still been alive.  I have a heart full of memories of her that can never be taken from me, and that could never fade with time.   Her memory remains alive within my heart, and my mum's heart, and though we have a house full of photos of her that may fade in time, our memories of her will never fade.  And on her 80th birthday, we remember her with all the love she had given us over the years.  Happy 80th birthday, Gran ~ we love you forever."

Dedicated to the memory of my grandmother, Evadne Constance Hodgetts (nee Fleming)
~ 28th October 1922 - 4th September 1990 ~
