My
Mother's Gift
Mum, I don't need to
use flowery words
to tell you how I
feel
To let you know how
much I care
and that I love you
still.
I don't need expensive
gifts
to show you that I
care
For material wealth
cannot measure
the love that we share.
I don't need to give
you anything
that money has to
buy
For love is far more
priceless
and it will never
die.
I don't need to say
anything
for we know what is
true
You know and love
me anyway
just as I love you.
I only need to give
you all
that you have given
me
And send to you on
angel's wings
the love you've shown
to me.
I only need to be the
kind
and gentle loving
soul
That was always your
example,
the love that made
me whole.
I only need to show
you that
all you taught me
through the years
Wasn't wasted or forgotten
and didn't fall on
deaf ears.
All I need to give
to you
is all I've grown
to see
That love keeps us
together
and love will set
us free.
Though many miles separate
us
I now have come to
know
That the gift of love
I send to you
is what you've always
shown.

"This poem is also
written and dedicated to my wonderful mum, who has inspired me and taught
me so much in life. And the most important lesson I have learnt is the
gentle kindness of love ~ the kind of love that my mum has shown me throughout
my years, and the kind of love she taught me to show others. Thank you
, Mum."
