Now and Forever - To My Husband

Today I become your wife
I marry my best friend
Vowing to love and honour you
Through the challenges life sends.

And as I stand beside you
And declare my love for you
I want to share the promise of love
To last our whole lives through.

Today I take you, now and forever,
To be my partner for life
To have and to hold, to live in love
Together as husband and wife.

And in better and worse to share our lives
All our thoughts, dreams and fears
To overcome, encourage, support,
Together throughout the years.

Through sickness and health to be there
Holding each other's hand
Even when things don't seem to make sense
Always trying to understand.

I will love and cherish you always
Throughout the good times and the bad
Devoting my life to you
Even when you make me mad.

There'll be times we don't see eye to eye
And disagreeing with each other
It won't be always be easy, but
We'll face it both together.

Marriage won't always be sunshine
We'll have our share of storms
But we'll keep the flame of our devotion
Glowing bright and warm.

And so before our family and friends
Declaring from our hearts
To have and to hold now and forever
Till death do us part.

And today we stand side by side
And come together as one -
Joined together as husband and wife
Our lives have just begun.

Written for my husband, I read it to him after we exchanged vows, on our wedding day
on 30th May, 1998.
