Searching
He fights
a battle from within
he knows
to God that he won't win
He's
looked for love from day to day
now
he's turned his back and walked away.
He's
afraid to love the way he should
'cause
he's still haunted by his childhood
He doesn't
try to care anymore
now
he's on his own, but what for?
He tries
his hand at many things
looking
to find hope in something
Maybe
sex can fill that hole
that
burns deep within his soul.
The sadness
that in his eyes
looks
at me beyond disguise
While
he embraces me with trust
he wants
to lose himself to lust.
He asks
if I would sleep with him
to immerse
myself deep within
The
feeling that's like nothing else
together
we could lose ourselves.
I reach
out to him with my hands
trying
to listen and understand
But
he only wants to try and hide
from
the hurt he's locked inside.
He thinks
that there is no escape
for
this is the path his life will take
Happy
in the face of things
he hides
the emptiness within.
But he
is stronger than he knows
through
the highs and the lows
He won't
stumble, he will not fall
when
he comes to face it all.
And though
his search is not in vain
he will
come to know again
That
love is not found in a bed
but
from your heart and soul instead.
I hope
and pray that he will find
a love
of everlasting kind
And
through that love he'll come to know
that
all he had to do was grow.

"I wrote
this poem about a guy that I knew. He was a funny guy, and friendly, though
he had a sad childhood full of lost hope and empty promises of a broken
home. These aspects of his childhood reflected in the life he led. He was
searching, always searching and never finding. He found what he thought
was the love he yearned and searched for....lust. I was flattered when
he wanted me, but I didn't see it as his answer. After we left school,
we went our separate ways, and I heard that he married and moved to Queensland.
I just hope now that his search is over.... he deserved love and happiness."
