To Touch the Sun Again

Go on out and touch the sun,
All our work and worries are done.
Come - is the time for laughter and fun.

Gone are the pains and tears we cry,
Lost with hidden love by and by,
And faced with the future with a
laugh and a sigh.

Spiteful words and misunderstandings gone,
Left only are our hearts' sad song,
As the love we never knew moved along.

Oh, he did love you and maybe me, too.
And at times he'd give us all . . .
that is so true,
But to him, he was number one, not me or you.

His whole life had to go his way.
If we fit in, child, things
would be right that day.
But our love was not enough for our Mr. O'Day.

It's hard for you to understand, I know.
But this will help us both to grow.
That a man of great dreams
does not make that man so.

So, many a year from now in your life,
And a smooth talking guy wants you for his wife
Search deep for true love and not a future
of trouble and strife.
