TURKEY DAY

"Gobble, gobble", the turkey says.
He strutted and he looked
To see if the hatch man was near,
And he thought, "My goose is cooked".
"They've kept me up and fed me well.
I thought, 'this is the life'.
But now I learn my fate was sealed;
I'll soon go under the knife.
"Why did I have to eat so much
and get so nice and plump?
I'm quickly going to lose my head
Out on the old tree stump!

"I wonder if I could fool them some
And make believe I'm sick?
Then they'll have to change their plans,
And maybe a duck they'll pick.

"Today is 'turkey day' I'm told
They'll give thanks for their overflowed cup.
I may as well say my prayers,
For the sun is coming up."
