Insanity
By KatzFallenStar

She sits isolated,
surrounded by a world that she cannot control.
Her knees are drawn to her chest and fastened by her clasped arms
as she rocks back and forth,
in some desperate effort to comfort herself.
Her wind-burned lips utter a stream of gibberish and ranting
in her soft child-like voice.
She tucks her head in,
with hopes of becoming smaller,
or even invisible.
She feels the stare of a hundred pairs of eyes on her,
when she is alone.
She cries
without knowing why,
and laughs
with reason to grieve.
She rolls harsh words over and over in her mind
until they become soft and round,
and she can forget how they felt when they first touched her.
Insanity never forgets.
She obsesses and over-analyzes.
One comment can send her spiraling down a tunnel of confusion
and renewed feelings of self-hate.
She hides behind anger and doesn't come out
until the storms in her head have subsided
and she can think clearly.
